In support of Blacks United In Leadership and Diversity (BUILD) and the Black community, the Washington State Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council Events Subcommittee invites you to the “We Can’t Be Silent: White Accountability Listening Sessions” for state employees. More info below. The University of Washington and Washington State University, with support from Tacoma Community College, have created the Washington State Food Security Survey to gain a better understanding of how the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has impacted economic security and food access for Washington State residents. The survey is both computer and smart phone-capable. All Washington State residents who are 18 years or older are invited to participate!

Today is Juneteenth, the day we commemorate and recognize as Freedom Day for slaves in Galveston, Texas who were told they were free by Union soldiers on June 19, 1865, two and a half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that became effective in January 1863. This is a day of reflection, acknowledgement, celebration and action. A message from Gregory T. Hinton, Vice President of Finance and Operations, Edmonds College.
