BUILD Black History Month Lunch and Learn: Black Identity & Black Radical Tradition (Video)2/9/2023
Terrence McCall led a Fireside Chat as state agencies BUILD an understanding of black identity using what we know about history, as well as the location of black identity in the historical system(s) of reality, in order to grasp the connections that help us better understand the present realities affecting the black community.
Revolution and radicalism, like black, are words that carry a particular weight to them which can create discomfort and unease, and yet like black, the words themselves carry in them something to not only recognize but also to celebrate and embrace. What is the ‘Black Radical Tradition,’ and what role has it played in advancing the position of black people in the world? What about the tradition makes it radical, and what place, if any, does radicalism have in our work? Join us as we explore the meaning and their effects in our world today.
