build seeks nominations for 2021-2022 executive leadership team

Blacks United In Leadership and Diversity continues to BUILD.

Nominate yourself or any BUILD community member to serve on our 2021-2022 Executive Leadership Team. These are professional development opportunities leading a statewide program in a volunteer capacity. Incoming leaders will receive all of the training, support, and mentoring they need from the outgoing leaders and our Executive Sponsor to be successful.

Nominations for BUILD Chair 
Do you know a BUILD community member who has the ability and/or desire to:
  • Provide leadership to BUILD
  • Mentor other leaders
  • Advocate on behalf of BUILD
BUILD needs a confident leader who has a strong organizational perspective including a vision for BUILD, and the ability to evaluate risks in decision making. They must also have strong leadership competencies and skills in these areas:
  • Collaborative and adaptive approach
  • Problem Solving
  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication, written and oral
  • Fosters engagement
  • Organization and time management
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution
  • Delegates appropriate work
  • Ability to make tough decisions

Nominations for BUILD’s Executive Assistant 
Do you know a BUILD community member who has the ability and/or desire to:
  • Provide administrative support to BUILD
  • Learn and grow
BUILD needs an assertive support person who has developing administrative management competencies and skills in these areas:
  • Organization
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Problem Solving
  • Critical Thinking
  • Various computer applications

General campaign information 
  • The election campaign runs from January to April 30 of the election year.
  • Nominations may be submitted by any BUILD community member.
  • Nominees may be any BUILD community member.
  • Nominations are submitted to an Executive Board member or BUILD@ofm.wa.gov
  • The Executive Board meets with nominees in May to discuss their interest, qualifications, and any concerns or barriers they have to serving.
  • Nominees confirm acceptance of their nomination prior to being announced as a candidate.
  • Nominees submit a bio and picture. 
  • Candidates are announced by June 1 and voting is open for 2 weeks.
  • A majority vote of the active membership* determines elected officers.
  • Ties are broken by a coin toss. 
  • Elected Officers announced at the June general membership meeting.
  • Elected Officers take office on July 1.
*Active members are those who have attended a general membership meeting or special event in the previous six months.
