A message from the Washington Immigrant Network - www.washingtonimmigrantnetwork.org: The Washington Immigrant Network needs your help making the Food for Diversity-Cultural Recipe Book. We need your recipe as well as volunteers to help collect the recipes, publish, and distribute the book. If you have recipes to share and or interested in joining the Food for Diversity committee, please email us at [email protected] We have the following main ideas about the project: Purpose of the project: The is to celebrate the value of diversity and to engage and connect with Washington state employees and allies by sharing food recipes from all over the world, traditions, and cultures.
Name of the Project: “Food for Diversity – Cultural Recipe Book” What is the “Food for Diversity – Cultural Recipe Book”? It’s a collection of family or individual food recipes that reflect our family traditions and/or cultural backgrounds. Recipes may contain accompanying stories and graphics. We may be adding some folk tales, traditions, and other pearls of wisdom from different cultures. We believe that everyone has a culture to share and that everybody else benefits from such sharing. How can I help? The volunteers will join the Food for Diversity committee and work collaboratively to complete the book. It will involve collecting the recipes/stories, putting them together in the recipe book, and sharing/distributing the book within their respective networks. It can be printed, electronic, or shared on WIN’s website. The content may be based on the following themes (subject to more input):
Timeline: Publication and distribution TBD, but no later than March 1, 2021 Distribution: We can share it widely with any agencies and BRGs for free. We can also consider a nominal fee per copy, which will be donated to the combined fund drive. We can conduct an event where we can share the experience of making and tasting new food. When we can meet in person, perhaps we can host a cooking contest or a potluck. Questions and/or recipe suggestions?
