SPSCC looking for mentors for its graduating class of Black Scholars

10/2/2020

Dear community members,

The Barbara Clarkson Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at South Puget Sound Community College is looking for mentors to assist with mentoring and guiding its graduating class of Black Scholars.

The Black Scholars Program helps Black and African American students get through college and graduate by offering mentorship, community, and support services tailored to unique needs around racial identity.
The mentoring program is intended to provide professional guidance to these students as they prepare for the workforce. It is a great opportunity to meaningfully impact the workforce and our community at large.

If approved, mentors agree to the following:
  • 2020-2021 school year commitment: Nov. 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021.
  • Minimum time commitment of 1 hour per month for up to 10 months.
  • Prepare materials or resources on requested topics for each session.
  • Commit to providing feedback on the program to the Black Scholars mentoring liaison.
  • Contact their partner and the Black Scholars Liaison if changes affect their ability to be a mentor.

Should you be interested, here is the link to submit your application.
Please submit your application by October 9th at 5 pm.

Thank you for your consideration.

Parfait Bassalé
Executive Diversity Officer
South Puget Sound Community College
