The Juneteenth Royal Ball: Reclaiming Community in Washington state in a movement of celebration, inspiration and elevation in excellence!

5/24/2022

This is the Inaugural year that the state of Washington recognizes Juneteenth as a legal state paid holiday on Monday, June 20, 2022. As Black Folks and allies, we have been celebrating Juneteenth for years. This government recognition is cause for a bigger celebration. Black-Owned Business Excellence (BOBE) in partnership with The Professional Women of Color Network and many other collaborators are cultivating this recognition with a Royal Ball that reclaims Community here in Washington.
We know that systemic racism, gentrification, school-to-prison pipeline, coronavirus, unaffordable housing, resegregation and a ton of other variables have forced the black community to disperse from historically black landmarks in Washington. We also know there will be a ton of festivals, marches and daytime celebrations that we will all attend in our respective neighborhoods. And this Juneteenth Royal Ball will be an opportunity for all to come together and truly reclaim the black community. We are calling all the Elders, Community Leaders, Business Owners, and even Young Folks to show up in Excellence!
This Juneteenth Royal Ball will be a night of celebration, inspiration and elevation of Black Community and Black Businesses. As Royalty, we are rolling out the purple carpet and starting an annual Juneteenth tradition in Washington that will last beyond the lives of many of us in attendance. So, put on your royal garments and grab someone from the community and stand in unity with us. There are several opportunities for you to join in on this night of royalty.
